Believe it or not, if you go through the time, effort, and bother of writing a business plan, are you nothing trying your best to make it bulletproof? You might try to poke a few holes in your idea just so you can see its strong points from its weaknesses. Once you’re able to thoroughly analyze your idea, you would then have a more realistic view of not only what you’re up against, but what you need to do to make it better.
Sadly, most guys don’t go through this process. Instead, they get all excited about the fact that online dating makes millions of dollars a year. They get excited about the fact that guys seek out online dating apps and website. They focus on the big numbers. While all these factors are true, it is also true that the vast majority of guys who try their hand at building an online dating site end up failing. They don’t just fail normally. Instead, they fail miserably. That’s right, everything goes up in smoke.
If you don’t want to be one of those guys, then you need to focus on saturation. Saturation is really important because with everything else being equal, if consumers are given two brands and one of those brands is already established and has a huge base of users, consumers will always go for the more established brand. The newcomer would have to jump through a lot more hoops and spend a lot more money and time to even get noticed. Do you see how this works? If not then have a look for yourself!
So do yourself a big favor and focus on the niche you’re targeting, and see how saturated it is. If it’s saturated, then you need to look for sub niches or come up with some sort of gimmick that has a high likelihood of working. If you don’t go through this analysis and think through these hard questions, then you’re only setting yourself up for failure. The worst part to all of this is that you only have yourself to blame. Consider yourself warned.
